The Home Energy Audit is an extensive assessment of your home. Starting with a visual inspection of the exterior and interior, the next step is to detemine if any combustion appliances such as furnaces, boilers, stoves, etc. are operating in a proper and safe manner. Once the safety of these units is determined, and providing they meet the minimum safety requirements, the blower door is installed.
This piece of equipment is used to depressurize your home revealing all the areas that need air sealing and insulation work. The blower door also determines pressure differential between rooms with relation to the main part of the house. In other words, it let’s us know exactly how “tight” your house is and helps us pinpoint where work is needed.
Once the audit is complete, a full report is provided which includes all findings, recommended repairs, estimated cost of repairs, estimated annual savings from upgrades and the estimated rate of return on your investment based on utility bills from the previous year.
